ImageIt's coming up to 5am Chennai time. The sky is slowly becoming lighter and I can already hear the distant sounds of those tuk tuk's beeping their horns. I can't sleep, so I thought I'd say hello to you guys. Morning bebes! Well what a flippin' journey. It was definitely a schlep and a half getting here. I didn't feel remotely human when I got in, and my body clock is completely whacked out. They're 5 and half hours ahead of London. Note the extra half hour stuck in the time difference...quirky, eh? I'm tickled. Other than that, it's sticky, humid, and rainy! Ahhh! Can't believe I brought the flippin rain with me! Grrrrrrrrrr. I need some sun! :)

Everytime I come back to India, I am always amazed and in completely in awe. It seems that there's always something new to discover...something a bit different...it's sort of like you're witnessing live photographs of these impressionable images being forever etched into your mind. And then that sudden pang comes in my gut, where I feel a bit poignant. That feeling of being more of a foreigner than a part Indian girl...and it's bittersweet, cause there is so much that I wanna see and learn about my birthplace.

I think as you get older, it's stuff like this that means so much to you and it certainly has played a huge part in creating my sound music wise....this journey, this search to find out who I really am...like putting all those missing pieces of of the puzzle together. God I must be sounding so "self help book", but I'm not! I promise! Lol ;) Since I was a kid, it feels like I was given a multi thousand piece puzzle to put together, which at the time, seemed overwhelming when you're a kid...and now years later, those pieces to that bloody long puzzle, which at times either came to a halt or seemed endless, are starting to all fit into place and it's a flippin' great feeling. Lol ;) (I really wanted to say "f'in" great feeling, but my mother may read this blog. ;0>) Okay enough self analysis...we're here in Chennai! Finally! :)

I saved up for this moment and Garry Hughs and Andrew Mackay from the lovely Bombay Dub Orchestra are doin' there thang in the studio! My manager, Simon, Garry's talented mrs., is getting lots of cool documentary footage of the making of my album. It's really exciting and so liberating at the same time. We've waited a long time to do it right as it was so important to get that authenticity of my roots and the results from what has been coming out of A R Rahman's studios, are mind blowing. All the musicians are sooooo great, from the string players, to percussion, to the flute players, it's awesome and just what my album needed. It's gonna be mad busy for the next week over here but so exciting to see the whole album unravel and the songs marrying into one another so nicely. I really can't wait for you to hear it. Lots of deadlines to meet to get the album out mid year, 2008. It's coming up to 7am....think I'll meander down to the breakfast café....feeling kind of peckish...gonna go to the local markets this morning with Amanda and then off to the studio for the flute, and strings sessions. Woohoo! Hope you guys are well and peachy. Can't believe Christmas is around the corner. That reminds me, I gotta order my tree. Be in touch soon lovelies. Lots of love, kd xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

P.S: In a few days, I'll be sticking up some newly mixed tracks from "The Live Sessions", to give you a taster of what's to come on my next EP release. Hope you likey! ;) xxx
